Day 24 - Cortez, CO (Day 3)

Yesterday was a pretty full day.  We decided to travel less, grocery shop and create a plan for our next destination.

Four Corners:
Four Corners is just 40 miles from Cortez.  The drive took us well into the desert.

On the way ...

Ooh, we really are in the desert

We're there ...
The Four Corners marker is on Navajo Nation land in the middle of the desert.  You pay $3 per person to see it.  The marker is placed in a small plaza and is surrounded by vendor booths.  It seems like this spot in our country geography deserves more recognition.

We were here on August 21, 2009.  The entire facility has since been redone.  The central plaza is new and the old wooden vendor booths have been replaced.

Tomorrow:
Planning for tomorrow is complete.  We're heading into Arizona for a stop at Canyon de Chelly near Chinle.  We're planning to stay at Cottonwoods Campground and will have to boon-dock (e.g. no hookups of any kind).  There'll be no blog updates for a few days.
